Eco Drainage
Ecological landscape design & sustainable landscaping
Typically in the past urban rain water has been channelled into local drainage networks to prevent local flooding in times of heavy rainfall. In more recent times a series of flash flooding and leaching of toxic materials into our water system has made us seek an alternative to conventional drainage.
Ecospaces provides number of services to mitigate modern drainage problems:
Bio swales: These are sculpted depressions in the landscape which harness urban runoff from surrounding development preventing flash floods, halting dirty water from entering the local ecosystem and polluting the hydraulic cycle.
The swales can become landscape features with boulders and bog planting, the roots of native wetland plants have been scientifically proven to naturally clean the type of surface water pollutants found in urban environments.
The seasonal flooding and draught creates an Ephemeral habitat almost lost in the countryside today supporting many rare insects that rely on this hydraulic cycle for there larval development.
Rain Water Harvesting
With a rising population and the slow warming of our climate existing water consumption practices will have to change in order to prevent environmental shortages and future crisis.
Our professionals can install water storage tanks which harness excess rain and waste water for a number of water saving functions such as flushing toilets, or landscape irrigation systems.

Permeable Surfacing
Today there are many surfacing options, our teams are professional in the installation of permeable surfaces such as self binding gravel’s and resin bound surfaces which come in a range of colours and textures absorbing water back into the ground naturally.
